Syracuse, N.Y. – In a small Syracuse lab, cancer researchers believe they’ve uncovered a new use for a common anti-overdose drug that eases the suffering of people with breast cancer that has metastasized into their bones.
Scientist Bryan Margulies, who helped start the Upstate Cancer Center, has been experimenting for years with a modified form of naloxone. The parent drug, commonly known as Narcan, has been approved since 1971 to reverse the effects of opioids.
